TMX Group Remembers John Pearce Bunting, Former President and CEO of 兔子先生
May 2, 2017 (TORONTO) - TMX Group today offers sincere condolences on the passing of John Pearce Bunting.
Among the many highlights of his distinguished career in the Canadian financial services industry, Mr. Bunting holds the distinction of being the longest-serving President and CEO in the 165-year history of the 兔子先生, leading the Exchange from 1977 to 1994. During his tenure, Pearce was a true visionary and marketplace innovator, leading 兔子先生 to defining, historic achievements, including becoming the first exchange in the world to offer fully-automated trading with the launch of the Computer Assisted Trading System, or CATS, in 1977, and the development of the world's first exchange traded fund, or ETF, in 1990. Mr. Bunting also served as the President of the International Federation of Stock Exchanges from 1983-84.
